Coffee Girl of the Month: Victoria Tencate Brouwer – “Sugar and Spice”

A little bit of sweet and a perfect mix of spice coffee girl of the month, Tori Tencate Brouwer is known to keep everyone on their toes. Tori has been working at the Blue Moose Cafe for just over a year now. She makes quality drinks and has little time for those who do not. Tori is constantly keeping the bar raised at the Moose. She has high standards and makes sure the people around her do as well. Tori knows that the people who visit the Blue Moose come for their  favorite cup of warmth, and they expect the very best. The very best is exactly what she delivers each and every time she works. Fellow barista Katelyn says, “Tori is not all that she is cracked up to be but she does make a killer London Fog”. Stephanie, another barista says “That wasn’t a nice joke Katelyn but your right about the London Fog.” Emily from the Moose says “I really love that kid”. Tori’s favorite drink is a vanilla steamed milk but she also loves a good London Fog, extra foam. But she much prefers to eat crushed ice cubes and no one really knows why. Go try one of her perfect beverages for yourself, stop into the Blue Moose and ask Tori for a cappuccino Riley style.

Meager Creek Slide Vrs. The Hope Slide

Mud Slide at meager Creek a reminder for residents  of Canyon Country . On August 6th2010, a massive landslide near Meager Creek Hot Springs said to have been caused by glacier melting.  There is a lot of geothermal activity in the mountains around Pemberton and the area is well known (and well visited!) for the Meager Creek Hot Springs. The mudslide was more likely caused by the geothermal springs melting away a glacier area high above the valley. The same area experienced a similar slide in 1998 that brought down a million cubic metres of rock. The recent slide is known to be BC’s second largest land slide. The largest slide in BC / Canadian history happened in our very own back yard. The Hope Slide was the largest landslide ever recorded in Canada. It occurred in the morning hours of January 9, 1965 near Hope British Columbia , and killed four people. Unlike  the Meager Creek Mudslide, the Hope Slide was caused by to small earthquakes. Now  a viewing area and park located on top of the debre that came down from the Hope Slide. This gives travelers a real perspective on the power and damage these massive landslides hold. Coffee Girl of the Month – Denise Payant – “She gets in her laughfing fits”

Focus, direction, and leadership are only a few of the words that can be used to describe Denise’s presence at the  Blue Moose Cafe. Coffee Girl of the Month Denise Payant is not only one of the most enjoyable people to meet at the Moose, she is one of the funniest happiest people I know. Denise has been working at the Moose for 3 years now, when you walk into  the queue at the Moose she gives you a welcoming feeling that makes it that much more exciting to go.  She brings a warmth to the guest and to her coworkers that makes the moose a better place to be. Here is what her co-workers had to say. “She gets in her laughing fits” - Brody -Blue Moose Barista  ”Denise is a gem and a super-mom!” Katelyn Hamilton-Blue Moose Barista.. Denise isn’t only a ball of laughter, she is a strong leader who works hard to maintain a flow and consistency that we all can appreciate. Greatly contributing to the experience that makes the Blue Moose an experience worth talking about.  That is what Denise does every day, she gives ’em something to talk about.  Find Denise at the Moose during the day time. Tell her her favourite little buddy sent you, and ask Denise about her favourite beverage the Berry African Red Tea. On a side note we would like to take a moment to say goodbye to our little Sierra Keith, a Blue Moose favourite Sierra has served the Moose for years and now moves to the concrete jungle to see more of the world. We pray that she stays in the coffee business so she can continue to serve people her delicious beverages. Good luck Sierra we will miss you dearly.
